The city of Phoenix is the fifth largest city in the United States. That means a lot of people, a lot of cultures, and a whole lot of food. With restaurants on nearly every corner, it can be hard to pick where to have dinner. Luckily for you, the knoodle team has a few resident foodies who have compiled a list of five local places to check out if you’re ever in the Valley of the Sun.

Edelweiss Biergarten

This German-Hungarian restaurant has the largest selection of German beers in the Valley, delicious traditional German and Hungarian dishes, and even live accordion performances. It’s the perfect place to get authentic European food in the middle of the Southwest. Keep an eye out during September for the beginning of Oktoberfest!

Taco Guild

These award-winning tacos are made from fresh, local ingredients and served in a chapel-turned-restaurant. The time-tested recipes and food craftsmanship paired with the historic and nostalgic feel of the chapel make for the foodies ultimate pilgrimage. And the tacos themselves? Positively divine.

POMO

POMO Pizzeria Napoletana is a chic fast-casual eatery serving up authentic Italian Neapolitan pizza and regional dishes like the Gnocchi Sorrentina or the Burrata Di Buffalo. The space is distinctively Italian which also reflects its contextual environment of the desert. The centerpiece is a 7,500 lb. wood-fired pizza oven adorned with copper “penny” tile, a product that has been locally mined in the desert for centuries. Every pizza is made with love and fresh ingredients.

The Duce

When you walk into The Duce, you’ll see a clothing shop to the right, a dance floor/vintage soda shop to the left, a boxing ring in the back, and a restaurant and bar serving handmade cocktails and American dishes from scratch on the patio. It’s crazy, unorthodox, and absolutely delicious.

HEK-Yeah Barbecue

This hole-in-the-wall family restaurant serves mouthwatering, slow-smoked barbecue in North Phoenix. If you’re looking to have some great barbecue in the valley, it’s here. knoodle’s COO and biggest foodie, Sandra, highly recommends the baby-back ribs.
